On July 7th and 8th, Legacy staff and volunteers gathered at Owl Ridge Conservation Easement, southwest of Water Valley, for our 3rd annual Buttercup Blitz.
We’re seeking Volunteers to help us pick Tall Buttercup on one of Legacy’s conservation properties.
Introduced from Europe, Tall Buttercup is classed as Noxious in Alberta. The plant contains a bitter, irritating oil that is toxic to livestock and other grazing animals. It spreads rapidly by seed and overtakes native vegetation.
We’ll be working on a beautiful piece of private land that has been certified as an ecological gift by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
We’d appreciate any time you’d be willing to give. Come one day or both. Or join us for part of a day. Many hands mean fewer buttercups!
We’ll send you directions and a list of stuff to bring including good gloves, boots, lunch, water and bug spray .
