Staff

Conservation. Dialogue. Stewardship.

Legacy’s operations are led by a team of dedicated and creative staff.

In addition to their work on conservation and stewardship projects and programming, they also create events and opportunities for the community, ensure all administrative and organizational obligations are met, and collaborate with a team of incredible volunteers.

Kevin Frankowski

Interim Executive Director

Kevin loves the outdoors, especially being on the backcountry trails of our beautiful province. He has a passion for responsible stewardship of the natural environment. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in ecology from the University of Calgary and Masters of Applied Science degree in environmental engineering from the University of British Columbia. In his work, he has led innovation in land remediation, energy generation, water and wastewater treatment, and technology development for agricultural operations.

Kevin and his family love Mountain View County and its beautiful wilderness areas. He is honoured to have served on the Board of Directors of Legacy Land Trust Society for two years. He now serves as its interim Executive Director. Legacy’s focus on responsible stewardship and landowner-led conservation to protect Alberta’s natural landscapes aligns with his values.

Jon Wright

Conservation Coordinator

Jon has been involved in natural science field research for provincial and federal government agencies and industry as well as spearheading and conducting his own initiatives for four decades. He has published peer-reviewed papers in mammalogy and herpetology.  In addition, he spent over 15 years on a sustainable mixed-farming initiative using home-bred-and-trained Clydesdale horses as a primary power source.

Conservation easements through land trusts can have dramatic positive effects. He believes working with landowners to protect significant lands is a powerful means of reaping real conservation dividends.

Legacy Land Trust Staff Patti Gardner

Patti Gardner

Administrative Coordinator

Patti has lived most of her life in the Olds area. After working for the Canadian Maine Anjou Association and the Mechanic Department at Olds College, she took time off to have her three children. When her children started school, Patti went back to work for Jim Smith at Perry Appraisal Associates. Jim approached her about renting a room in the Perry Appraisal office for Legacy Land Trust Society. He then encouraged her to consider doing the Society’s bookkeeping. Within a short time, that expanded to more administration work in addition to the bookkeeping.

Patti loves the rural lifestyle and likes to see the land protected. In her spare time she likes to team rope, curl and spend time with her grandchildren.
