How Storytelling Supports Conservation
Stories are integral to our connection to the land.
Along with land conservation we are striving to preserve the historic, personal and meaningful stories that bond people to the areas they love.
As humans, we are all intrinsically linked to the land—for our heritage, food, livelihoods, recreation, and our wellbeing. We invite everyone to share their stories in whichever way possible, be it through video, writing, photography, song, or painting.
Stories help foster conservation by developing relationships with each other through the stories the land tells. This initiative helps all people connect to the land that surrounds us.
Legacy’s Stories program has hosted an oral storytelling workshop, an art show in the Pointen Art Gallery at the Carstairs Heritage Museum, and booths at National Indigenous Peoples Day in Olds.
